Attack on Syria's Hagia Sophia Church: A heinous crime against humanity, harmony, and peace

A heinous terrorist crime took place on Sunday, July 24, while peaceful people were celebrating the inauguration of the Hagia Sophia Church--about 30 miles northwest of Hama, Syria--which was built as a replica of Instanbul’s Hagia Sophia.

 

 At least one civilian was killed and 12 others were injured and material damage was caused as a result of the attack.

 

Why are priests subjected to danger in Nigeria and elsewhere in the world?

Over the past few months, extremists escalated their attacks on priests in Nigeria with gunmen kidnapping them and later killing them, thus creating an atmosphere of fear and confusion among the believers.

 

On Sunday, 19 June 2022, gunmen attacked two churches in rural northwestern Nigeria and killed three people, weeks after a similar attack in the West African nation that left 40 worshippers dead.

 

‘Whenever you are in dire situation, look for Caritas’

Caritas is a manifestation of Lord Jesus' message as He says in the Holy Bible: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."(John13:34-35)

 

With the ongoing state of turmoil and conflagration between Russia and Ukraine, the Ukrainian refugees keep saying, ‘Wherever you go, look for Caritas.’
