The new Pope Leo XIV

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost takes us back to the 5th century, when Leo, known as "the Great," was Pope of Rome and Pontiff of the Catholic Church, namely the 45th successor of Saint Peter. He was distinguished by his teachings and intelligence, as his teachings are recited on Christmas Eve to all believers in all churches worldwide.

May 8, 2025 was a day of jubilation marking the election of a new pope, namely Pope Leo XIV, an event which unveils the global nature of the Catholic Church that walks hand-in-hand with the vulnerable and the needy in all parts of the world.

The Vatican and the Catholic Church conclude the nine-day of mourning marking the passing away of Pope Francis effective the funeral day until Sunday, May 4. Yet, the end of mourning does not mean the end of Pope Francis' legacy, as the Church starts to reflect on the legacy he left behind and the things he taught as teaching is the fundamental characteristic of a bishop in general, and of a pope in particular.

In early October 2023 Pandora's Box opened in the Middle East wreaking havoc in several countries, while its devastating flames have so far not been quenched. The flames of the conflagration have turned the hopes of peoples into ashes, while hopes for a better future for these peoples of the region have been waning or rather dwindling to an unrecognizable level. It is really a desperate situation for the people of the Gaza Strip who have been striving to attain a dignified life whose basic need to urgently be met.
