Madaba: The city of Mosaics

The Jordanian city of Madaba is renowned for its historical remains, and consequently is known as the “City of Mosaics”. It is home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land with two million pieces of vividly colored local stone depicting hills and valleys, villages and towns as far as the Nile Delta.

n a world abounding with bleak news addressing wars, violence, missing people, poverty and unemployment, a glimmer of hope emerged from the Holy See with the descendent of St. Peter, His Holiness Pope Francis, inviting the Christian heads of churches in Lebanon for a meeting on July 1 to discuss the country’s crisis and to help extricate the country from the imbroglio in which it is currently embroiled.

His Holiness Pope Francis has released his prayer intention for the month of June 2021, by inviting the faithful everyone to pray for those preparing for marriage.

 

Stressing that getting married and sharing one’s life is something beautiful, he said, “On this life-long journey, the husband and wife aren’t alone, Jesus accompanies them.”

Foster fathers play a significant and sometimes critical role in caring for children from troubled backgrounds, but because their role is often temporary, they don’t get much mention on Father’s Day. 

 

St. Joseph has long been referred to as Lord Jesus’ “foster father” even though we have every reason to believe his presence was steady and abiding throughout Our Lord’s youth.

The Catholic Church is growing in spite of the difficulties arising in current world affairs, which are rampant with violence, wars, instability, and foremost of which is persecution.

 

No matter what obstacles stand in the way, the Catholic Church is growing fast and people are coming to realize that faith is the only way leading to the elimination of diseases, facilitating life, instilling permanent peace, and ensuring a happy life with the Prince of Peace.

Press reports have indicated that the world’s biggest Christ statue, a 121-foot-tall giant of concrete placed on a 20-foot-high platform, will shortly be unveiled in a small city in the south of Brazil.

 

Such a step indicates that the religious dynamics in Brazil, which is thousands of miles away from the Holy Land and the birthplace of Lord Jesus, can never be deciphered. This religious dynamics is always present in the hearts and minds of those who are suffering from mundane problems and do not find a way out.

Fraternity supersedes fratricide
