Interlinked global crises

In his address at the COP27 climate change conference, Holy See Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin said that “we cannot ignore the link between the climate crisis and lack of access to food and water." He furthermore stressed that hunger, conflict, climate and inequality are firmly interconnected".

 

Pope Francis dedicates November prayer intention for children, why?

With wars and a state of instability erupting in various parts of the world culminating in the outbreak of the Ukraine-Russian conflict, people of good will focus attention on the children who lost their parents and homes as well as were deprived of the opportunity to live a normal life by being bereft of attending schools, thus wrecking the prospects for a bright future in the melee of non-ending conflagrations.

The ITA plane was peacefully flying in the skies of Europe, over the Mediterranean and slightly edging over Asia and Africa. But  when it entered the Jordanian airspace from the south, four planes belonging to the Royal Jordanian Air Force flew to cordially accompany a grand friend hovering over the Holy Land, namely Pope Francis who was heading at the time from Italy to Bahrain on a  four-day visit.

 

Religions cry out for peace

In 1986, specifically on October 27, religious leaders met with representatives of various Churches in the Italian township of Assisi, about 175 kilometers north of the capital, Rome, at the kind invitation of Pope John Paul II, who at that time wanted to pray for peace, harmony and unity among followers of religions for the attainment of a more comprehensive human solidarity.

 

"No more war, let us stop all conflicts"

"With firm conviction, we say: No more war! Let us stop all conflicts." These were the words of His Holiness Pope Francis during the closing ceremony of the annual 'Spirit of Assisi' prayer for peace with religious leaders which was held on 25 October, 2022 at the Colosseum. Such words reverberated in the five continents of the world as well as affirmatively and strongly urged world leaders to end wars and conflicts by resorting to the logic of peace.
