In every walk of life one encounters serious circumstances and might reach a point of losing everything or even losing one's life, yet at a very critical point something happens and turns an imminent catastrophe into joy. At that point one heaves a sigh of relief thanking the Almighty God's care.

At this point, people are perplexed for a catastrophe was imminent, but fail to grasp how a divine power interferes at the right time and turns a catastrophe into a feeling of joy.

Even though every Christian church we enter has a crucifix or cross prominently displayed, we can still find ourselves surprised by the cross in the events of life. There is something about human nature that seems to take for granted that things go well. When they don’t, we can be stopped short.

"CHRISTIANS IN THE HOLY LAND ARE THE LIVING STONES"

Reports have circulated that the Custody of the Holy Land is currently offering more than 582 houses in Jerusalem inside and outside the Old City, as well as 72 houses in Bethlehem to Christian families, a step designed to provide accommodation for a total of about 2,050 people, and consequently to entrench the Christian presence in these two cities in the Holy Land, and to maintain the Christian presence in the Land of Lord Jesus.

"Do not conform yourselves to this age
but be transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that you may discern what is the will of God,
what is good and pleasing and perfect. (Rm 12:2)

Several key words jump out at me, I also hope for you, in this passage from Romans 12, don't' conform, be transformed, discern! It's a mantra easy enough to make into some form of repetitive prayer:

'Help me Christ, not to conform to the evils about me,
may Your spirit transform my present life,
that I may discern the will of God . "

In fact, the Catholic identity of our schools and colleges is in far greater danger than it was before the summer began. There is much that Catholic educators can do to improve their prospects for the future, but it will require strong faith and fortitude.
