Alas! It is a world abounding with exorbitant hatred, drenching with the blood of innocent people, and soaked with violence. It is a world that has shoved aside love, mercy, as well as common living and replaced them by all kinds of acts that emanate evil.
The world seems to have kept Pandora's Box open all the time. Pandora's Box is referred to the Greek mythology which refers to Pandora who received a jar from Zeus who warned her not to open it under any circumstances. Although she tried hard to resist the temptation, she opened the jar and consequently released all evils upon the world. Hatred, war, death, hunger, sickness and all the disasters were immediately released.
A bird's eye view on the current world affairs unveils an ugly image of insatiable desire to reach the farthest brink of intolerance and hatred as Pandora's Box is still open.
With states of instability prevailing in numerous parts of the world, so many nations have been gripped by hunger, poverty, and cases of unbridled social problems leading to mass migrations with people crossing seas and oceans in dilapidated boats, and undertaking dangerous trips which in most cases end up in imminent death with the hope of reaching the shores of safety to live in countries that provide them with dignity, safety, and a promising future.
Among the serious conflicts that erupted in Europe over a year ago is the Ukrainian-Russian conflict that takes a toll on the world economy and stability as this war has drifted the world into an abyss of unknown.
There have been so far no positive or rather tangible outcomes of the various initiatives designed to mediate an end to this war or any other conflicts emerging in the world at large. Hopes are pinned on further efforts that may effectively lead to attaining a durable peace in Europe and elsewhere in the world so that the peoples of our globe would heave a sigh of relief once tangible and concrete results are brought about that attain this desired goal.
Consequently, It is incumbent on world leaders to join forces and undertake a practical and collective modus operandi that brings about permanent peace and restores global tranquility.
Press reports have indicated that one million children will be praying the rosary on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. They will pray for peace in an increasingly violent and divided world which serves as an important gesture for every Christian to indicate that prayer can be part of a global movement for change designed to bring about the desired goal of perpetual peace and stability.
Sincere prayers for peace serve as a powerful and effective step to bring about this desired objective. With the unstinting efforts to attain everlasting global, it is important to recall Lord Jesus Christ's noble worlds when he said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." (Matthew 5:9)
As the world exigently needs peace, the Lord had also said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." (John 14:27)
Bearing in mind that our Lord is not a Lord of wars and bloodshed, but a Lord of peace, love, and mercy, it is incumbent in this regard to have world leaders and decision-makers assiduously help drift the world into a sphere of conciliation, peace, harmony, and love by defusing tensions and establishing everlasting peace based on justice.
Will then Pandora's Box be closed for ever?
