August 22 is the Feast of the Queenship of Blesses Mary, the Mother of the Church and the Mother of the Universe.
This feast is intended to let everyone venerate Her devoutly being the merciful mother of Her Son, Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

On the 11th of October 1954, Pope Pius XII established the Feast of the Queenship of Mary to be celebrated throughout the world, and commanded that on that day each year, the world should renew its consecration to Her. In the future the Feast came to be celebrated on August 22.

On the day Blessed Mary was assumed into Heaven, She was solemnly crowned by Lord Jesus Christ, and received as the Queen of Heaven. While recognizing Blessed Mary's Queenship, it is also important to have Her also enthroned in our homes. She is definitely the merciful mother of all the people, particularly the ones who lost their mothers. Blessed Mary will always remain the ne plus ultra of all women.

The Holy Bible furthermore confirms Blessed Mary's Queenship, as it is states, “A woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under Her feet, and on Her head a crown of twelve stars” (Rv 12:1-3).

POPE ST. JOHN PAUL II WRITES ON BLESSED MARY'S CORONATION
Pope Saint John Paul II, in his apostolic letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae writes of the Glorious Mystery of Blessed Mary's Coronation. He says:

“Christ was raised in glory to the right hand of the Father, while Mary herself would be raised to that same glory in the Assumption, enjoying beforehand, by a unique privilege, the destiny reserved for all the just at the resurrection of the dead. Crowned in glory – as she appears in the last glorious mystery – Mary shines forth as Queen of the Angels and Saints, the anticipation and the supreme realization of the eschatological state of the Church.”

BLESSED MARY FAR TRANSCENDS ALL OTHER CREATURES
The Blessed Virgin Mary possesses a dignity that far transcends all other creatures. She takes precedence over every creature and it suffices to remember that She is the Mother of Lord Jesus, the Savior of the world and that from the moment of Her conception, Blessed Mary was filled with such a plenitude of grace.

Blessed Mary is the hope of all people suffering, in pain, in poverty and in despair. She dresses all our wounds, gives us joy, and draws us closer to Her beloved Son Lord Jesus Christ.

IN CALAMITY, THE LEBANESE SAY,"O VIRGIN MARY''
An event that is highly merited for the merciful influence and motherly care of Blessed Mary is that the very moment the explosions ripped off Beirut on August 4 at 6:09pm, the Lebanese people shouted unanimously "O Virgin Mary".

This incident confirms the fact that people view Blessed Mary as their merciful mother who serves as a bulwark against all evils. She is the Mother of Mercy.

There are so many people in the world who address Blessed Mary in times of calamity seeking Her support. This happens worldwide particularly in the Middle Eastern countries. She never fails anyone who approaches Her with an exigent need.
On this day, as the world marks the Queenship of Blessed Mary, it is important to seek Her help in the dire situation that the world is experiencing, particularly with regard to the situation in Lebanon.

On the day marking the Queenship of Blessed Mary, we pray in Her honor saying:
"O Mary Immaculate Queen, glorious Queen of the Universe, most powerful Virgin, merciful Mother of a merciful God and refuge of sinners, we consecrate ourselves to thy Royal and Immaculate Heart.

"It is through thee that Jesus Christ our King has come into the world to save it. It is also through thee that He is to reign over the world.

"In order to obtain this great benefit for ourselves and all mankind, we come to thy feet to consecrate to thee our persons, our lives, all that we are, all that we have, all that we love. Keep us, enlighten us, dispose of us, reign over us.

"May all hearts and all homes willingly proclaim thee as their Immaculate Queen."
