September 8 marks the Feast of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary. This day is the greatest and the most important day in history because it marks the birth of a blessed woman who was chosen to be the mother of the Savior of the world. Blessed Mary is the spiritual mother of all people and the holiest of God's creatures.

WHO IS BLESSED MARY?
The Holy Bible addresses blessed Mary saying, "For she is more beautiful than the sun, and above all the order of the stars: being compared with the light, she is found before it." (Wisdom 7: 29)

Blessed Mary was conceived and born immaculate and full of grace. She is the Queen of heaven and of earth, and through her all grace is given to humans.

We honor Blessed Mary since She was the one who followed the footsteps of her Son in giving her life in service of others. She did not stay in her comfortable environment. Rather, her life was lived as an act of faith, of trust, of generous abandon to the dictates of the Holy Spirit. She made a constant journey into the unknown, but always in obedience to the will of God.

This includes the flight to Egypt, the years of living in exile, the journey to Jerusalem, and the agony at the foot of the cross.
Blessed Mary suffered more than any other women on Earth. She made sacrifices and suffered watching Her Son, Lord Jesus, dying on the Cross. Despite Her rough and tumbles of motherhood, She was victories as Her Son rose from the dead to provide salvation to all those who believe in Him.

BLESSED Mary IS THE REFUGE OF ALL THE AFFLICTED
Blessed Mary is the mother of all those who lost their mothers, She is the Mother of the world. She is the one to whom people resort in times of trouble and misery.

In our modern history, it suffices to mention a glaring example of the care demonstrated by Blessed Mary towards Her children. On the very moment that the two explosions ripped through Beirut on August 4, 2020 at 6:09pm, some Lebanese people shouted unanimously "O Virgin Mary".

O Virgin Mary, you are the blessed and the merciful mother who serves as a bulwark against all evils. You are the Mother of Mercy. You act in solidarity with the afflicted and demonstrate tremendous faith and love.
At a time when people celebrate the birthdays of the others on this earth, how ought we to rejoice in the nativity of the Virgin Mary, while presenting to God the best homage of our praises and thanksgiving for the great mercies He has shown in You?

Your Nativity, O Virgin Mother of God, is the herald of joy to the whole world; since from you arose the Sun of Justice, Christ our God, who, destroying the curse, bestowed the blessing, and confounding death, rewarded us with life everlasting.
Our Mother, Blessed Mary, protect the world from all forms of evil.
