In his general audience address on Wednesday, April 27, His Holiness Pope Francis urged Catholics to rediscover the Holy Bible that offers “valuable teaching on the alliance of the generations.”
The Pope praised the Book of Ruth’s positive depiction of relations between a woman and her mother-in-law, saying: “I invite you to rediscover the Book of Ruth especially in the meditation on love and in catechesis on the family."
“This short book also contains valuable teaching on the alliance of the generations: where youth shows itself to be capable of restoring enthusiasm to mature age — this is essential: when youth restores enthusiasm to the elderly — and old age discovers it is capable of reopening the future to wounded youth,” he added.
In his general audience address, His Holiness the Pope quotes the Holy Bible and explains how the Holy Book, with its Old and New Testaments, serves as a model of divine love that needs to be emulated in all walks of life. It is important in this regard to follow the advice expressed by the Successor of St. Peter on the need to thoroughly read verses from the Holy Bible on regular bases so as to enable us to lead a blessed life in light of the “valuable teachings" expressed in this indispensable book.
"The Bible is more true that just true"
Canadian author and psychologist Jordan Peterson has said that the Bible is “way more true than just true” because it provides a structure for much of our current cultural knowledge.
Explaining how he had come to this conclusion after he made a recent visit to the Bible Museum in Washington, he added, “and that book itself, namely the Bible itself isn’t a book. It’s a library. It’s a collection of books.”
He continued: “It isn’t that the Bible is true. It’s that the Bible is the precondition for the manifestation of truth, which makes it way more true than just true.”
The Holy Bible is indispensable because it is fundamental to faith and without the Bible by, one would waffle in spiritual uncertainty. This Holy Book keeps one grounded in God and shielded from mankind’s misguided detours.
The Holy Bible is important because it is God’s revelation to humanity. It sheds light on Lord Jesus' life and the miracles He carried out, that take place regularly up to the present time, as well as the developments relevant to the early Church while serving as a conduit for the Holy Spirit to work in one's life today.
This Scripture frees one from Satan, whereas the Holy Bible says, "I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one." (1 John 2:14) Furthermore, this Scripture imparts grace and peace, protects us from destructive error, and gives all readers sustained life.
Read the Holy Bible on daily bases to be filled with the blessing of the Lord and to lead a life full of safety and peace in the company of the Prince of peace.
