A new film titled “Fatima”, to be screened on August 28, highlights the enduring message of Our Lady, Blessed Mary.
The Fatima is an impressive film that tells the story of a “Blessed Mother” who came from Heaven to give a helping hand to a deviating world and to tell her children exactly why they need to resort to Lord Jesus in order to restore global peace and love.
While the Blessed Mother’s appearance at Fatima and the “Miracle of the Sun” happened 103 years ago, the film’s appeal stretches across boundaries with the Fatima devotees, people of various faiths and denominations who will definitely find something to consider in this film.
In 1917, near the end of World War I, a miraculous event happened in the quaint little city of Fatima, Portugal.
It is the Miracle of Fatima, also known as the Miracle of the Sun, which happened between May and October of 1917. Three shepherd children, Lucia Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto, reported visions of the luminous lady, Blessed Mary. She appeared to the children in the Cova da Iria fields outside the hamlet of Aljustrel near Fatima, Portugal. She appeared to them on the 13th day of each month at approximately noon, for six straight months.
BLESSED MARY... BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN
Lucia described seeing the lady as “brighter than the sun, shedding rays of light clearer and stronger than a crystal glass filled with the most sparkling water and pierced by the burning rays of the sun.” The lady confided to the children three secrets, known as the Three Secrets of Fatima. She urged the children of Fatima to do penance and to make sacrifices to save sinners. Most importantly, Lucia said that the lady asked them to say the Rosary every day, reiterating many times that the Rosary was the key to personal and world peace.
WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS OF THE APPARITIONS AT FATIMA?
A. Among the major implications of Fatima apparitions is that Blessed Mary wants to continue to communicate with Her children and consequently to the Church. During Her apparitions, She urged continued prayer, sacrifice, and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. At the Annunciation, Mary was addressed by the Archangel Gabriel as “full of grace.” In 1854, Pius IX, said, “The Most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of sin.”
B. Blessed Mary wants to tell the world that She cares for all humans and that She is always available to meet their needs by healing the sick, satisfying the needy, and caring for the hopeless. What is needed is to approach Her with prayers as is the loving mother of all humans.
As Our Lady told us in Fatima saying, “In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph,” we address Her saying that in our world we are suffering from terrorism, violence, wars, persecution, and poverty.
Our Lady, You are the guiding star that God gives to us to navigate these difficult and treacherous times. You came to us as a Mother to turn our gaze away from the crumbling walls around us and to fix them on her Son Jesus Christ who never fails and is always in control, do or leave us. Guide us in the journey of life and save us from evil.

May the world watching the film on Fatima be inspired by the love of Blessed Mary so that the world leaders would establish global peace based on justice worldwide.
