During his Wednesday General Audience, August 12, His Holiness Pope Francis looked ahead to the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary and asked the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede so that humanity might overcome the novel coronavirus, as the Church prepares to celebrate the feast of her Assumption, August 15.
In this remark, the Pope revealed the panacea. It is the medicine that heals all our illnesses and relieves us from all the disasters surroundings us and inflicting harm on us. The panacea is seeking the help and intercession of Blessed Marty, Mother of the Church and of humanity.
Reports are abounding with incidents in which Blessed Mary’s intercession heals wounds, breathes hope into the desperate, and brings people closer to Her Son, Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed Mary’s help to defeat the coronavirus is a reality or rather a fact that can never be ignored. She is the Mother of the world who cares for Her children when they seek Her support. There are innumerable incidents confirming that Her intercession was necessary to avoid catastrophes.
While we seek Blessed Mary’s maternal care to heal the world from coronavirus, we also recall that the world is infested with disasters that include wars, violence, corruption, crimes, slavery, and various kinds of deeds that violate the will of God. We recall an emerging wound that is difficult to heal, namely the crises engulfing Lebanon. No matter how the crises escalate, Our Mother of Lebanon will not turn Her back on Lebanon.
Based on the prayers said in various parts of the world and in Lebanon in particular, Blessed Mary will definitely heed the prayers. With Her intercession, world countries and charity organizations have rushed to help Lebanon by making invaluable needed services, while scientists on the other hand have been working day and night to manufacture vaccines that treat coronavirus patients with such efforts are about to bear fruit.
Praying the Rosary is a powerful form of meditation. These prayers, coming directly from the Bible, ask Mary to intercede for us to Jesus. We thus pray saying:
“We fly to your protection, most Holy Mother of God; please listen to our petitions and needs, and deliver us from all dangers, ever glorious and blessed Virgin Mary.
“Mary, our model and mother, by your obedience and patience you have taught us how to be true children of God. Please help Lebanon and extricate it from its current ordeal, heal the world from coronavirus pandemic. By Your powerful assistance help us overcome all our weaknesses, and fulfill perfectly our tasks in life.
“By your compassionate aid may we ever stand in spirit with you beneath the Cross of Christ so that we may also rejoice with you in your divine Son's triumphant victory over sin and death.
“With Your gracious assistance may we be near you in the glory of Christ's Kingdom come to sing with you and all the faithful the eternal praise of God. Amen.”
