Caring for the elderly, the needy, and the sick is the core of the divine message conveyed by Lord Jesus Christ, as it is a noble responsibility to spread love and ensure that families live in the healthiest and happiest possible way.

This is a real-life story of Ms. Claire Pizzuti, co-founder of the St. Clare's Home in Greenville, South Carolina, where the establishment of the maternity house was her brainchild.

She says that when she was in the 5th grade, she experienced a deeply traumatic dream that forever changed her life. It involved walking down her parent’s basement and discovering abortions being performed amid the sorrowful cries of post-abortive women.

At this point, Claire realized that the dream was an elicitation to do something even at that age she recognized that “the dream was a call to protect women and children from the pain of abortion, and it served as a powerful reminder that people right her own community were suffering and in dire need of help.”

She did not have any idea about how to start a maternity home. She was siblings, believed blessed with an incredible mother who believed in her call and helped her plan a “Walk for Life.” The walk ultimately raised $7,000 for the local pregnancy center and continued annually for the next seven years.  Actually, that was just the beginning.

The next few years, a friend of hers found a beautiful home on a 15-acre property in Greenville, South Carolina, which was later transformed into a maternity home. A pregnancy-resource center was launched to serve any women who were unable to live in the maternity home.

The home was  named “St. Clare’s Home” after St. Clare of Assisi because she would serve as an incredible role model for the moms in care, as it was hoped that through her intercession St. Clare’s Home would remain strong amid the heavy attacks facing those who fight for a culture of life. The St. Clare’s Home was inaugurated on August 11, 2021 marking the Feast day of St. Clare.

Since opening, St. Clare’s Home has served dozens of women through the outreach centers in Greenville and Rock Hill, with a wide variety of physical, emotional, educational, and medical resources.

The launching of St. Clare’s Home is a noble expression of love for humanity, as well for serving the cause of helping others surmount all problems impending in the way and proceed towards a rosy life.

Regarding St. Clare’s Home itself “as a testimony to women who dream”, it is important to recall the Holy Bible verse which states, “Let love be without hypocrisy, abhor what is evil, cling to what is good. (Romans 12:9)
