The abouna.org site has the pleasure to post the excelling painting of artist Robert Giacaman, which represents the two new saints Blessed Marie-Alphonsine Ghattas and Blessed Mariam of Jesus Crucified Baouardy, being the major painting in modern time that unveils for the first time the canonization of the two Palestinian nuns on May 17.

The artist, Giacaman, is Palestinian from Bethlehem who studied art in Italy. He completed his painting on Tuesday March 24, 2015 at 1:48am.

The painting depicts Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Palestine, on top of the Holy land. On the right, the Blessed Marie-Alphonsine, the founder of the Congregation of Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary, stands near Jerusalem where she was born and extends her arms in prayer holding a rosary in her right hand. Over her monastic dress, the dress of the Order of the Holy Rosary is shown. Up to this very day, a rosary adorns every Rosary nun.

On the left, Blessed Mariam of Jesus Crucified Baouardy--the founder of the Carmel of Bethlehem--stands in the Galilee region, where she was born in the Ibillin township, wearing her monastic dress of the Order of Holy Carmel. The land looks green, not only from the geographic point of view, but as a significance of the holiness of the spiritual fertility prevailing since the time of Lord Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mother.

The artistic work shows the plurality of the religious congregations as expressed in the colors of the dresses. This indicates unity in plurality and in the goal sought by all the consecrated and baptized, namely holiness. Both nuns raise their hands to intensely perform non-stop prayers so that the Church can in turn attain the reality they had fulfilled. Furthermore, the two new saints "Mary and Mariam" pray intensely with Our Lady of Palestine, the Virgin Mary, for the achievement of peace and justice to the people of the Holy Land. Undoubtedly peace and justice are the gift that the people of the Holy Land seek to attain with the intercession of the two new saints who share their names with the name of the Virgin Mary.

Three Marys in the impressive painting, pray for us.
