Members of the Doucette family have been enjoying their role helping with the rosary construction for DesignMyRosary.com orders.

Press reports indicate that when Matt and Elizabeth Doucette were students at Franciscan University of Steubenville and first dating, she wanted to get him a rosary for a Christmas gift. Shopping for one, she could not locate “the rosary” she wanted, so she ended up gathering beads for a rosary and other parts, including the crucifix and medal, and making the special rosary she really had in mind but couldn’t find.

That was the little seed all the way back because at that time neither realized that six years after they would marry in 2006 and would launch Design My Rosary (DesignMyRosary.com).

With their family business run from home, Elizabeth already had experience making rosaries with her mother for the Fathers of Mercy in Kentucky.

They have several memorial rosaries for infants that have passed away which touched them, but there were many happy occasions which include making rosaries for weddings, thus the Rosary has always continued to be a big part of their lives.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ROSARY MAKING

Prayer is the conversation between God and humanity. It is furthermore the source and reason for the existence of the Holy Rosary.

With the making of a Rosary is an act of love, it is making a tool of prayer and it is in the prayer, not the tool, that love is expressed.

Praying the Rosary represents a series of meditations; it carried Blessed Mary's love of Her son and our prayers into the world and into the hands of someone we know nothing of and will never meet.

“Give me an army saying the Rosary and I will conquer the world,” said Blessed Pope Pius IX.  This implies that we can certainly use the power of the Rosary to conquer ourselves, our sins and our temptations. The rosary brings us closer to the presence of Jesus and His most loving mother for where they are, sin cannot dwell.

The Pope Francis spoke about the rosary as a “contemplative prayer”, saying that, in meditating on the mysteries of salvation, “the loving face of God Himself, whom we are called to contemplate in eternity, is increasingly revealed to us."

On the other hand, Pope Francis l lad a major shrines around the world in praying the rosary to implore Mary’s intercession and protection amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Let us always pray at the feet of Blessed Mary, Mother of the Church, seeking Her motherly love and care.
