Press reports have indicated that the world’s biggest Christ statue, a 121-foot-tall giant of concrete placed on a 20-foot-high platform, will shortly be unveiled in a small city in the south of Brazil.

Such a step indicates that the religious dynamics in Brazil, which is thousands of miles away from the Holy Land and the birthplace of Lord Jesus, can never be deciphered. This religious dynamics is always present in the hearts and minds of those who are suffering from mundane problems and do not find a way out.

The idea to install the statue came up almost a year ago when the family of a sick man promised to God that it would build a Christ sculpture if he had a few more months of life.

This was in compliance with the Holy Bible’s verse, “Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3)

Actually the unnamed sick man was healed with the Lord’s blessing which actually brought the project of installing a statue into reality.

This statue is merely a representation of goodness and an indication of reverence and love the Prince of Peace, Lord Jesus Christ. It indicates that this statue is a reminder that Lord Jesus Christ Himself lives on top of the hearts of the faithful as does the statue stands on top of a hill overlooking this small Brazilian city. This statue is a manifestation of the physical presence of the Lord in a country that seeks His protection from evil, crime, corruptions, and disasters. It helps unite all people, as Lord Jesus’ presence instills pacification and an atmosphere of harmony.

With an estimation that at least 5,000  people will visit the city  every week when construction is completed to view the monumental statue of Lord  Jesus, it  is most important to visit the Lord and talk to Him even in the absence of statues, for He lives with us and comes to our help whenever we call to Him.

With another work under way in Brazil on a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Brazilian people realize that Blessed Mary is not only the mother of the Church, but the mother of every heart-stricken person who seeks Her merciful and compassionate touch of love.
